Studio Graphene

Social Values

Our Purpose

At Studio Graphene, we exist to design and build digital products that create positive impact for people, businesses and society.

We bring together strategy, design and engineering to solve meaningful problems and use technology in a responsible, human-centred way to improve how people live and work, strengthen communities and reduce environmental impact.

As we evolve our approach to AI, we are focused on how it is applied in practice to support better outcomes for people and a more sustainable future.

1. Economic growth & skills

Creating opportunity through skills, innovation and responsible growth

We create economic value by building long-term technology capability - within our own teams, our clients’ organisations and the wider digital ecosystem. Across our studios in London, Delhi and Lisbon, we invest in sustainable growth and long-term careers rather than short-term hiring.

Our commitment to fair work includes:

  • Paying a living wage and promoting fair, transparent pay across the business.
  • Investing in R&D and continuous employee training - including internal hackathons - so our team continues developing the skills needed for emerging technologies.
  • Contributing to community, charity and volunteering work.
  • Supporting innovation and growth through the delivery of 300+ digital products for ambitious organisations across multiple sectors.

We are building structured pathways into technology through mentoring, skills initiatives and opportunities for people entering the industry.

2. Opportunity & inclusion

Opening up technology to more people

We believe technology should be accessible, impactful and meaningful for all - from the people who build it to the people that use it. Through inclusive teams and user-centred design, we create digital products that consider different needs, backgrounds and experiences.

  • We foster an inclusive, supportive culture guided by our values, measured through our regular engagement surveys.
  • Our employee voice programme gives every employee an anonymous channel to shape how the company runs, and we act on and feed back what we hear.
  • We are committed to building diverse teams and creating equal opportunities for people from different backgrounds and experiences.

We are establishing a digital-skills initiative - through mentoring, workshops and experience opportunities for young people and career-changers from non-traditional backgrounds - widening access to careers in technology.

3. Environment

Measuring our impact and reducing it, year on year

We take a measured, science-based approach to our environmental footprint - reducing real emissions first, rather than relying on offsets.

  • Our emissions reduction pathway is validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aligned to a 1.5°C trajectory.
  • We are committed to net zero across all scopes by 2050, with a near-term science-based target on Scope 1 and 2.
  • We measure our full carbon footprint annually in line with the GHG Protocol and publish a PPN 06/21 compliant Carbon Reduction Plan.
  • Our footprint and progress against our targets are set out in full in our Carbon Reduction Plan, which we update annually.

4. Governance & ethics

Held to independent standards

Our commitments are backed by independent certification, transparent policies and clear processes - not self-assessment:

  • Certified B Corporation, independently assured against the B Lab standards.
  • ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 27001 (Information Security) certified
  • Cyber Essentials Plus certified.
  • Published Modern Slavery statement.
  • Supplier and client screening processes to ensure we work with organisations aligned to our values.
  • A formal grievance mechanism and ongoing engagement surveys that keep our governance accountable. Read more about how to raise a concern.
  • Our Human Rights Policy and Responsible Lobbying Policy set out how we respect human rights and engage responsibly on public policy.

We are continuing to prioritise ethical, SME and local suppliers wherever possible.

5. Community involvement

Giving back in every community we work in

We support the communities around our studios through volunteering, charitable initiatives and partnerships.

Recent initiatives include:

  • London - supporting Hackney Foodbank through donations and volunteering, helping provide emergency food parcels for people facing crisis.
  • Delhi - partnering with local organisations focused on education, food support and environmental action.
  • Lisbon - supporting community initiatives focused on reducing food waste and increasing inclusion.

We're building longer-term community partnerships focused on skills, inclusion and environmental impact, making our contribution more sustained and measurable.
